Magi Annual Dinner – 24th March 2006
Wow what a lovely evening. Where shall I start? At the beginning of the rainbow I think. We were welcomed into the Irish Centre with an overhead rainbow leading us into the dining hall which looked fantastic. Each table adorned with a golden pot and chocolate coins with cleverly created rainbows reaching upwards with the table number and pretty themed balloons swaying above. Continue reading

Wednesday 15th February saw the Magi host their annual cabaret & comedy competition. With the Magi being such a romantic bunch, it was decided to move the date back a day so that it didn’t clash with Valentines. Like last year we had 7 entrants competing for the awards

On a freezing cold Sunday morning in Manchester, members of The Order of the Magi, their wives, partners, families and supporters could be found battling the wintry conditions to support Manchester’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

The intended subtitle for this report had been ‘Bird’s-Eye-View’, until He Who Must Be Obeyed (Geoffrey Newton), considered the non-p.c. connotations, especially in a society with only 1% female membership, inappropriate, no matter how tongue-in-cheek.

The Magi Meet The President
The Order of the Magi President Mike Sharples and Immediate Past President Geoffrey Newton were invited to meet the President of Ireland Mary McAleese when she recently visited the Irish World Heritage Centre in Manchester, the Magi headquarters.
Mike presented her with a framed coloured Magi logo with an explanation of the motto. Continue reading

8th February 2005 – Cabaret Competition Report
Tuesday 8th February saw the Magi host their annual cabaret & comedy competition. With 7 entries competing for the awards, the judges knew they were going to find it difficult to find a winner.
Indeed when the final scores were totalled, three entries tied for first place.
